PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

Baker Hughes INTEQ, Houston, Texas                                                                            1992-2000

Baker Hughes INTEQ is an oilfield service company providing MWD (Measurement While Drilling), drilling, and fluids services to the industry with about 1 billion dollars in annual sales.

Engineering Fellow (1999-2000)

Modified design of the slimhole density-neutron tool to decrease measurement uncertainty by 50%.

Results: Tool is the most accurate slimhole nuclear tool on the market.

Supervised modeling and experiments to determine response of and environmental correction to the 8 1/4" neutron tool.

Results: Tool was fully characterized in 8 weeks instead of the typical 6 months.

Project Manager/Scientific Advisor (1997-1999)

Led 20 person cross-functional team that developed and field tested three new MWD nuclear tools in two years.

Results: Customer requirements for enhanced nuclear services were met in time and 400 million dollar contract was awarded.

Led team that improved reliability of nuclear service.

Results: Failure rate reduced by 75%, with associated costs reduced by $600,000 per year.

Presented nuclear services to customers throughout Europe.

Results: Nuclear tool revenue increased by 50%, or 4 million dollars, the following year.

Modified design of MWD density tool to decrease measurement uncertainty by 40%.

Results: Tool became the most accurate density tool available.

Developed and patented two techniques to ensure accurate MWD density logs in enlarged boreholes.

Results: Baker Hughes has patented the techniques used by three out of the four nuclear MWD services.

Teleco, Meriden, Connecticut                                                                                             1989-1992

Teleco was the leading MWD company with sales of about $120 million when was bought by Baker Hughes in 1992 and incorporated into INTEQ.

Consulting Engineer/Project Manager (1989-1992)

Developed a cross-functional team that turned the prototype MWD density tool into a commercial service.

Results: Teleco retained its reputation as the best high end MWD provider and was sold for approximately 400 million dollars.

Designed prototype MWD density tool that was built and field tested within  nine months from of the start of the design process.

Results:  Teleco achieved its goal of having triple combo service available in 1989, even after numerous setbacks in 1988.

Atlas Wireline Services, Houston, Texas                                                        1982-1989

Atlas Wireline is a major wireline logging company with over 500 million in sales.

Senior Research Scientist: (1986-1997)

Developed technique for full spectrum density logging, and determined the response of the tool.

Results: Market share increases of 25%-75% were observed from the North Sea to Alaska.

Research Scientist: (1983-1986)

Developed adaptive digital filter for nuclear tools that improved the precision of the measurement by 70% without sacrificing accuracy

Results: Atlas was able to correct erroneous density logs from over a three year period and avoided penalties of over five million dollars.

Jr. Research Scientist: (1982-1983)

Analyzed and modeled data from experimental density tool.

Results: Tool design was improved.
